#001. the main ones!
1. Spamming and / or Site Trashing
Just don't do it. Okays? It's not polite and it's certainly won't impress us admins or others members if you are ruining this or any other site. First incidence is a warning, second time a member is banned for a week. Third time - do you really want to know? Spamming is basically double posting, one word posts etc. Need more clarification? PM me or one of the other admins.
2. Language and Grammar
We are a literate site, meaning one line posts are not acceptable. Yes, everyone gets writers block every now and then so sometimes it just can't be helped. However, if every IC post you are making is only a few sentences, you will receive a warning. On the whole, we do not have a word count, but please try to match your partner! This, of course, excludes OOC posts. Please use proper grammar and spelling. Typos are to be expected, but that doesn't mean I want to see a whole post filled with them! Our staff are always available to help you if you want to learn to expand your writing or to make larger posts!
3. Rating
This is a warriors site guys, a book series written for children. No one wants to read cat porn here so just nothing graphic on that end. On the other paw, feel free to describe any fighting scenes as graphically as you need or want!
4. Respect other members!
Please, if you have a problem with someone, do not start a hate war. They really are not necessary and do not add to the friendly atmosphere of the site. If you do have a problem with another member, PM an admin and they will sort it out with you and said member in the most mature and unbiased way possible. We are all here for fun and to hang out and make friends so we really don't want any drama.
5. The admins' say is final
I think this one is rather self explanatory, don't you? Respect us and we will respect you! While Pawsteps Past is very friendly and we want every member to be a part of the site and character and plot creation, the staff members do have final say. That is not to say that they can not abuse their power, and if anyone feels as though a staff member is being too harsh, please do not hesitate to speak with a different staff about it. We are all a family here and we need to be friendly and respectful.
#002. the image ones!
1. Credit it
If someone makes you a signature or avatar, they probably spent quite a lot of time perfecting it for you. Therefore, do not claim it as your own! Credit it as their work. Similarly, don't steal others signatures / avatars / images. It's not very polite and we won't be lenient when we find out (and we will!) you will receive a warning.
2. Imugr
It has been declared that the website Imugr is no longer allowing Proboards members to use their photos. So along with crediting your pictures and making sure they are CC, please do not use anything off of Imugr or we risk getting shut down.
#003. the out-of-character ones!
1. Be polite
Yes, your character has permission to be an absolute cow. You, however, do not. There is no need to put down other members or trash the site when you are OOC. It's just rude. On that same note, do not trash other sites. There has been a horrible bug around the warrior community that it is ok to speak ill of another site. We do not do that here. We are all roleplayers and we all love the same book series. No site is better than any other so please just don't be rude.
2. Advertising
We have an advertising section. So why bother posting links to sites in any other section of the board? This includes the cbox! PMing a link to a member is perfectly fine, so long as it is done in private.
#004. the in-character-ones!
1. Naming your character/s
Try to be interesting! Obviously we will have the basic names that get used a lot (Light, Flower et cetera), but they do not need to be used for every cat. There is no real limit to names other than it needs to be justifiable. These cats will have no idea what a gorilla is, so don't use it in a name. If you have issues coming up with a name, please don't hesitate to PM a staff member or discuss it in the cbox. We all love helping to design cool and unique names. I should probably also mention that there can only be one suffix per Clan and we cannot have any name duplicates on the site. For example, SkyClan can have a Honeypaw then ShadowClan can have a Honeystream but SkyClan cannot have both at the same time. This may also be a little harder to track, but keep in mind that cats do not simply spawn into existence. Meaning if there was a leader named Oceanstar who died two moons ago, you shouldn't have a 38 moon old warrior in the same Clan with the name Oceanspray. Because that means 2 moons ago, there would have been 2 cats with the same prefix.
2. Limit to the number of characters
Simple; there isn't one, providing you keep every single one of them active. We don't want to see people making countless new characters & never bothering to develop their old ones. There is, however, a two High Position per Player limit. And it should go without saying, but those two cannot share a category (leader/Deputy; Medicine Cat/Medicine Cat Apprentice). We trust you to know when you characters are inactive and to give them up if you do not have the time. We are not going to baby you and make you kill your characters if they are not being posted with. Of course the exception is a high position. If you agree to take on a ranked character, you also agree to the time and responsibility that comes with that and the Staff reserve the right to demote a high position if they have become inactive.
3. One character per account
Simply enough, make a different account for each character. There is a quick change button, in the bottom right of the site which makes it super simple to go back and forth between accounts. This rule is in place to make member groups and the like easier to see as well as functions like tagging. Please inform an admin what your primary account will be so that we can send mass PMs to only one of your accounts. It should also be noted that OOC accounts are for staff only.
4. NO powerplaying / godmodding / metagaming
In other words; you do not control every single character on this board. The whole point of rping is interacting with other people! So do not make your characters all knowing about everything. As for godmodding; just don't do it, okay? If you're unsure as to what it is; basically, it's when you determine the actions of another character. WRONG. You can say that is was a well aimed slap, but never say your character actually hit the other character. It is up to them to decide whether their character is involved. As for metagaming, your characters don't know everything. Just because you are aware OOC that Rabbitpaw was just assigned to Stonestep for training over in WindClan, doesn't mean your ThunderClan character knows that. The one exception to this rule is when a leader is doing a ceremony. Leaders are allowed to powerplay the apprentice or warrior saying things like "I do" or "It is" because otherwise there would be an entire post just for someone to say "yes"
#005. the clan ones!
Two high positions per player. The High positions are done on a first-come audition basis. What the heck does that mean? It means there is still an audition process, but there is no date when things will be decided. If we like you and your audition is good, you're in. You may not play a leader and a deputy and you may not play two high positions of the same clan. The original high positions will be decided on by staff, however from then on out, the leader is responsible for organizing auditions.
2. Relationships
We have no problem with any sexuality or gender identification a cat may have. We also would like to point out that there is no gender re-assignment surgery available to cats, so your cat can identify as a different gender then they were born as, but they are and always will be biologically their birth gender. Although we do not have problems with players having multiple characters in the LGBT+ bracket, we do ask that, just like any other 'type' of character (warrior, female, apprentice) that you try to keep tabs on and ratio out your characters. Have a gay warrior tom? Make a hetero female apprentice for your next character. We will not stop you from making characters in the same bracket but we ask that you simply police yourself.
3. The Code
We all know it, I shouldn't have to post it. Stick to the code, guys. Not everyone can be a Tigerclaw.
#006. thank you!
We are so happy that you have decided to check us out and possibly join us. The last thing we want is for any o these rules to scare anyone away. We want you to know that we are a friendly site and we believe that members are on equal terms as staff and that being here longer than someone else does not make you better than them. We love everyone and we believe that everyone should be treated the same. This means that decisions will never be made behind closed doors and members will always be invited to participate in the making of new rules or new plots. We are here to have fun. We are here to play. We are here to relax.
love, your friendly admins
PS; the fish are always hungry and never grow fat. Please feel free to feed them and love them! They are greedy little boos.
